RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) has been a part of St. Cecilia's sacramental preparation program for the past seven years. Non-Christian adults are prepared for the Sacraments of Initiation by becoming members of the RCIA program. The RCIA program has been fully implemented in the parish, with participants receiving Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation each year.

A parish priest is the spiritual advisor for the RCIA program. There is also a group of lay team leaders. The lay team leaders organize and direct the preparatory sessions, including classes and group discussions, throughout the year. The RCIA program provides extensive preparation on each of the sacraments to all of the participants. Catechumens participate in the Rite of Election at the Cathedral in Boston. RCIA members receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil Mass.

This past years program included three adults who participated as catechumens and candidates for the sacraments of initiation.
